Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese archipelago: warm sea for most of the season, long sandy beaches, the medieval Old Town (UNESCO), and the windy southwest for surfing. The island is convenient for a first trip: simple logistics, developed infrastructure, and moderate distances.
How to get there
You can fly in on a direct seasonal flight or via Athens/Thessaloniki; ferries run from Piraeus and across the Dodecanese. If you plan to explore the island actively, rent a car right at the airport — it’s easier to divide your days by zones (east/west/south).
